My History In A Nutshell

Well advanced at becoming Bob Frost
At Dartmouth I my mind lost
And was from Ivy League tossed
Put into therapy at considerable cost
To have my brain teeth flossed
By the Doctor who me bossed
Every night when I'd get sauced
Dewing my duty at my post
In Hospital where I was host
And met the beautiful female Jill
For whom over dale over hill
I trekked when I was ill
Until I found the perfect pill
To keep chemical imbalance demons still
(Which make romantic chances virtually nil)
Even while perfecting my poetic skill
I hope will pay the bill
For sodas on which I fill.

Together As A Sober Couple

We're discovering what we've been missing
In the process of remembering what we have
Forgotten in our days of beers and drugs
Consumed without regard for the greater
Pleasures to which we might have been privy
Even as we pursued our party ways and lost
The innocence with which Lord blessed us
In our joyful adolescence when we laughed
With the totality of our souls longing
For the sweet succor of teen-age fulfillment
While now we try to regain the bliss we missed
To the ignorance induced by the intoxicants
We mistakenly assumed would lead us
To the liberation of divine salvation.

The Origin Of My Uniqueness

When The Lord told me to be God
I followed His order without compunction
Dewing the job the best way I could conceive
Accepting my fate and being ready to die
To further the notion of a worldly illumination
Until I was detained for suffering an illness
By authorities unable to comprehend a reality
Based upon a personal divinity I couldn't deny
To the shrinks who interrogated me with desire
To save me from the abyss into which I dove
Fully conscious of the consequences of my actions
Going with the inarguable flow of a raging river
Heading towards the falls of a supernatural insight
Tumbling down the mountain of the sacred Self
In Whom I trusted while society ruled me insane
And subjected me to the necessity of medications
Sedating me so I could not complete divine mission
To which I honestly felt the Deity had called me
If I hoped to achieve salvation for this mad planet.

Tomorrow Is So Far Away

Tomorrow always look forward:
After the last "I love you" every night
The seconds accumulate into minutes
Culminating in hours spent listening
To music awaiting the chance to reconnect
After the dreamscapes of sleep pulling us
To mutual fields of desire where we lose
Ourselves to the blind oblivion of kisses
We've never experienced in daylight reality--
Tomorrow has no guarantees:
Every morning is an adventure of starting over
As we awaken to the sweet sunlight of clear skies
Or the clouds that block the orb bringing rain
While trying to decipher unknowable events
That entice us with the blessed gift of life
To feel the soft rainbow of love in our souls
Desirous of a consummation we will never know--
Tomorrow is yesterday today:
When the succulent breeze of longing blows across
The temperate river of passion in which we swim
Like loons afraid to surface in the sight of humans
Only then can we realize the potential for bliss
Denied us since the Fall of our first parents
From the Paradise in which we search to lose ourselves
To the spiritual fulfillment of embraced lovers
Walking hand-in-hand along the shore of the surfed ocean
Where there is no escape from the mortal undertow--
Tomorrow is the time for words we cannot speak:
Love tosses its mane like a proud stallion unridden
By cowboys anxious to prove their equine prowess
On a bronc as strong and wilful as the mountains
That refuse to budge from the majesty of their position
On which climbers plant their boots seeking a foothold
On the sheer cliffs growing from the precipice of lust--
Tomorrow is a mystery we can never predict.

A Fool Only In Love

You short circuit my brain with craving
To be in your presence my vaunted intellect
Cannot control as hormones of early spring
Kick in and I sit fixated by the silent phone
Waiting for the ring of your velour voice lost
In long moments of amorous oblivion
Reading the Bible to increase faith in Lord
Who directed you into my reality formerly
Resigned to indifferent solitude until the day
You materialized in pub to create in my sad
Existence new meaning even as you melted
My defenses with torch of the kind concern
By which you illuminated my darkness as I wrote
You poems inspired by the purity of your beauty
Which thunder-struck me with a longing I had not
Experienced for a score of years so I fell
Into an adolescent infatuation that continues
To bloom into deep affection transforming
My aloneness into a sentiment of wholeness
I never thought I could ever feel again.

A Captain Of The Marines

It was Maundy Thursday when we found out you had died
And so we have more to pray for this resurrection week
Hoping you will ascend with Christ to Heavenly Throne
Where your intelligence wit and military training you
Learned in two wars for fifteen years entitle you to
A medal of merit in hard battles led by Jesus against
The evil forces of greed and injustice under command
Of satan who was never able to overcome determination
You represented even as you suffered wounds and other
Difficulties of this Earth from which you've now departed
To assume control of the soldiers awaiting the advent
Of your skills to rout the enemy eternally from sweet
Memory of peace that existed before you came to world
To demonstrate the correct method to overcome demons.

The Eternal Solitude Of Forever

In this show I've been stuck
To regulate the flow of muck
And oversee growth of Generation Duck
Who will overcome with predestined luck
The presence of the Perpetual Yuck
Known in Absolute Reality as Chuck
The Catholic who once me struck
In pursuit of the almighty buck
Who finally was bammed by truck
Almost making it to The Dialina
Starship conceived when Crown Princess Nina
Introduced me to Majestic Highness Carolina
And favorite servant Holiest Priestess Tina
Best friend of Divine Actress Christina
Only sister to Sacred Empress Katerina
Creating spells with Magical Sorceress Sabrina
To impress the Omniscient Directress Thumbelina
Guarding Destiny of Ultimate Commandress Melina.

The First Of Many "Dales"

Solitary in the presence of Lord
Eternal entity Who is never bored
Trying to figure how Snakes scored
So Yankees fell as crowd roared
As to idiosyncratic Heaven I soared
While my heroes received the sword
For being faithful to The Word
By which all beauty is stored
In harmony with the perfect chord
I create stating I am Dale
The only son who cannot fail
Navigating the Dialina Starship I sail
To make immortal my mother's tale
And mediate between forces of Male
And secrets of the Absolute Female
For whom my poetry's on sale
So I can raise necessary bail
To liberate me from this jail.

Reflection On An Essential Obsession

Females are hot springs of geyser emotions
Erupting with a periodic regularity of mad
Kinetic energy creating desires for unions
Of lust and love devotion and passion want
And fulfillment as the planet continues to
Sustain both deep and petty feelings while
People wrestle with the whims of a reality
Of longing for the divine bliss of a Grace
Granted by a benevolent Lord hidden by
Illusions of time and space unfolding sure
Of amorous consummations pulling lovers
To sweet satisfaction of unending kisses.

Let Fate Follow Its Destiny

If you are the lady from the future I think you are
Then nothing I Dew will change the path of journeys
On which together we will embark and if you are not
Who I think you are you have still put a fire under
My frozen heart to show me the possibilities I feel
Have become manifest for some type of true love
For you've filled my spirit with a hope of finding an
Amour with whom I can spend the rest of the earthly
Time I have before my descent into the silent grave
That pulls us all into the oblivion of immortal sleep.

Pondering A Truly Absurd Notion

One cannot "decide" to fall in love
For when it happens it just happens
With an intensity and inevitability
That the brain is unable to process
And even when it occurs there is no
Guarantee the feelings shall endure
But still I long to enjoy the velvet
Of your voice and touch the silk
Of your body flowing as kimono
Above waterbed of bed-chamber
Where we lose ourselves to joyful
Bliss of our temporary time in each
Other's arms holding onto the sweet
Illusion of passion growing like apple
Upon heavy branches of tree of life
In The Lord's garden of perfection.

Great Now Distance Between Us

My emotions are in motion on the big ocean
Across which you flew to commence new life
On the island paradise from which you hail
In your subtle youth as I entertain notion
Our love can survive the separation of our
Realities even as I remain in Holiest City
A mere mile from the house you left behind
To pursue the bliss of an existence in the
Hope that you might create happy situation
While I envy of your carefree dedication to
Contentment that you have forever sought
Which I celebrate though you left me alone
To deal with the yearning of romantic soul
Gasping to find breath to talk to you as
The days accumulate and I struggle to find
An alternative to the real intense passion
We always experienced in presence of each
Other seeking to balance friendship with a
Lust it seems I alone of us two truly felt
In the holy time we spent joined together.

When I Take Personal Inventory

I am, and am not, a prophet of Jehovah
I am, and am not, a messenger Of Jesus
I am, and am not, a jahadist for Allah
I am, and am not, a disciple of Christ
I am, and am not, a follower of Buddha
I am, and am not, a devotee of Krishna
But I want to figure out the secret of all Deities
Working their miracles within chaos of Reality
While trying to decipher mysteries of blessed life
Not because I desire to guarantee myself house in Heaven
But because the wheel of Karma rewards them who are kind
With deep knowledge of insight that cannot be taken away
Even as cruel humanity continues to sink into evil greed
Which will be overcome only by determination to discover
The wondrous waterfall of Grace and Beauty washing clean
The body of humanity longing to be uplifted by The Spirit
Of loving devotion and compassion by which all creatures
Shall be sanctified into the bliss of eternal happiness.

The Wondrous Colors Of You

I want to reflect the prism of your infinite spectra
Like the brilliance of diamond of hope you represent
The violet of sweet dawn of your lovely intelligence
The blue of the vast sky of your truly happy insight
The green of the natural joy you create by your life
The yellow of the sun which you make shine every day
The orange of the fruit of your great irresistible beauty
And the red of the passion you produce in normal men
Even as I ponder the variety of emotion I still feel
When we converse on intimate phones across distances
Separating us from each other while I compose verses
By which I try to win your devotion despite hopeless
Reality we will never be lovers on this fickle planet.

Thirteenth Anniversary Of Doc's Demise

You were free world's greatest shrink
Who taught me how to think
Whenever I was on the brink
Of madness after many a drink
For you were my sanity link
If into delusion I did sink
Put in hospital quick as blink
Because my brain suffered chemical kink
You always cured with magical wink
And it's you whom I miss
With your diagnosis of "Psychotic Bliss"
Despite fact you did me piss
When you decreed I couldn't kiss
Fellow patients gorgeous as my sis
Trying hard your arm to twist
Gazing with lust at Sorly Mist
Carolina and rest of female list
Who exemplified for me beauty's gist.

The Jewels Of Your Totality

You mesmerized me with the ruby of your personality
You stunned me with the emerald of your generosity
You hypnotized me with the sapphire of your intellect
You overwhelmed me with the amythyst of your humor
You wooed me with the opal of your body
You pleased me with the pearl of your smile
And you conquered me with the diamond of your heart
Too hard to crack with the hammer of my intentions
Refracting the crystal light of the glow of your aura
Blinding me with the intensity of the rainbow prism
I perceived on the dark night when we embraced
Making me wonder how long can last memory of a kiss
As I look back past the thirty years of our union
Into the pinhole of Eternity through which shines light
Of the possibility of what might have happened to us
Without the noisy intercession of other people's reality
Which kept us apart and distant through this lifetime
Even as our longings led us into the arms of others
For whom neither of us should have really cared.
